Designing a Functional and Compliant Home Addition
The picture on the left features a family who required a small addition, due to the lot coverage requirements in their city. The design challenge was to determine how to provide an open dining and living area with an updated kitchen and easy access to the rear yard while staying in compliance with local restrictions. The pictures below are from inside the addition.
Balancing Architectural Requirements and Family Needs
Although the design was challenging, we were able to deliver on a finished product that perfectly fit both the architectural appeal required from local building and zoning department and family requirements. The new spaces allow us to rework the kitchen layout and provide extra living room space with a simple storage nook by the rear door. The dry bar added a nice touch to tie everything together in this older home.
Expanding Horizons: A Two-Story Extension for a Growing Family
The picture features a different design challenge for a growing family. We needed to maximize space on two levels to make room for more children and provide an owner’s bedroom with ensuite bathroom.
We designed a two-story extension with complimenting features and materials used in the existing house. The first floor contained a large master bedroom with ensuite bathroom including extra storage while the second floor was split into two bedrooms perfect for growing children.
